It was 11:30, and I was totally annoyed. I had called her almost 20 times, but she hadn't picked up. A lot of things were running through my mind. My other girlfriends always came late, but I never cared much about them. This was the first time I really wanted to know why she was late. Was she coming or not? I really wanted to meet her and see her. I had asked many times about her pictures, but she always said, "Life is to live, dear, so why not make our lives more interesting and adventurous by seeing each other the day we met for the first time? By the way, a wise girl said, 'The fruits of patience are sweeter.'"
A smile spread on my face as I thought about her. Then, my mobile rang, snapping me out of my daydream.
Unknown number calling... I hoped it was Areena. I picked up the call.
Unknown: Assalamualaikum.. Abid, where are you?
Thank God... I let out a relieved sigh.
Me: Walaikumussalam... I was just about to leave your college to go back home.
I lied.
Areena: No, I'm coming!
Her voice sounded like she was already feeling very sorry for being late.
Me: Ok, come fast.
I cut the call and waited for her to come out. She was right; this feeling of finally seeing her was amazing. My heartbeat was faster than usual. I heard the sound of heels, which matched my heart rhythm. I raised my head, and my eyes met a beautiful pair of light brown eyes with long lashes. She was very beautiful. She was wearing a long blue shrug with a red top inside and black jeans. She had long hair, which I liked the most because my other girlfriends never had long hair. I stared at her as she stood in front of me, and then she said in a very innocent manner, which would melt anyone's heart.
Areena: I'm sorry!
Which melted my heart instantly, and I smiled.
When we reached the nightclub, she asked me about the place, but I wanted her to see it for herself. Because she had told me once that she wanted to go to a nightclub, I took her to the room and returned to the reception. I sent Steve to take her order and then made my way upstairs to meet my friend. This club belonged to my best friend.
Me: Hi, John, how's it going?
John: Oh, hi Abid. I'm cool, as always. How about you?
Me: I'm fine. So, how are things going?
John: Good. Well, long time no see. Where had you been? One minute, you're here, which means a new girlfriend, huh?
He knew me very well.
Me: Yes, she's in my room.
I called Room No. 4 my room because I liked that room more than the others.
Me: I have to go. She is waiting for me.
John: Okay. I'll deliver your things right away.
Me: Yeah, thanks, John.
When I went downstairs, I found Steve, and he told me that she hadn't ordered anything. I seriously didn't get this girl. My other girlfriends always ordered large starters. But she? Well, I had to see what she wanted. I made my way towards the room. When I entered, she was just sitting silently, like a little girl.
Me: Why hasn't you order anything, Areena?
She looked up. I bent a little towards her. She looked at me with an uncertain expression.
Me: Don't tell me you thought I am unable to pay.
She looked shocked by my question.
Areena: No... I am just fine. I don't need anything.
Me: Liar!
Areena: No, I wasn't lying...
Me: Has anyone told you that you are not good at lying?
She thought for some time, as if she was calculating something.
Areena: Yes... No... I mean no.
Me: Oh, but I had just told you. Don't I?
She dropped her gaze and smiled. She looked so beautiful when she smiled.
Me: You are beautiful, Areena.
She met my gaze again, and her cheeks turned pink instantly. I wanted to touch them.
Me: And you look cute when you blush.
She laughed this time, and my heart stopped functioning for a second.
Areena: Are you trying to flirt with me?
Me: Of course. You are mine now. I can do anything with you, baby.
I said it confidently.
Areena: Not everything, sweetheart!
When she said "sweetheart," I had the urge to kiss her, but I controlled myself because I knew she was not that type.
I sat beside her. Steve brought the hookah, which was my favorite. I thanked him, and he left.
Me: Do you want to try it, baby?
I asked Areena and got a shocking reply.
Areena: No, I never drank hookah.
Me: Seriously? You should have tried it, baby. It was amazing.
Areena: No... you enjoy it. I'm fine.
Me: Don't be shy, baby. It isn't harmful.
Areena: No... sweetheart.
When she said "sweetheart," I melted.
Me: Okay, baby. Do you know where we are?
Areena: No.
Me: Any idea, baby?
Areena: Is it a restaurant?
Me: No.
Areena: So, tell me. Where are we?
I smiled.
Me: In a nightclub, baby. You told me you wanted to see a nightclub.
She didn't reply, and I waited for her to say something.
Me: You don't like it?
She smiled at me and dropped her head on my shoulder. She held my hand in her soft, small hand and wrapped her fingers around it. I shivered.
I held her hand more tightly.
We spent some quality time together, and then I dropped her back off at her college.
I couldn't resist thinking about her. I really didn't know what was wrong with me. I had never behaved like this when I met my other girlfriends, but this time was different, and it was all because of Areena.
